CHILD AND YOUNG ADULT COUNSELLING
At Mandaram, we approach counselling through seeing an individual as part of a greater whole - where we aim to work with our clients in finding the root cause (or core) of an imbalance or issue - whether this be mental, physical and/or emotional - and work towards restoration or enhancement of clear perception and healthy functioning.
Through modern science-based approaches, we work towards helping children, teenagers and young adults break free of limiting thought patterns, belief systems, and behaviours and help them find the strength, courage and the resources necessary to be able to make the required changes to overcome difficulties and challenges, and move forward in life.
We also focus on providing our clients with the tools, skills and methods to be able to better manage the challenges of daily life; find more balance; be able to better navigate and facilitate change; pinpointing resistances and obstacles to change; finding more energy, motivation, joy and contentment in life; and feeling more empowered as they transition into the next phase of their lives.

WHAT TO EXPECT DURING AN INITIAL CONSULTATION WITH US
Working with a counsellor is part of an emotional journey, and is one where you need to be (a) comfortable with the process, (b) and feel comfortable with and trust the person that you will be working with on this journey.
As such, our initial sessions generally cover the following aspects:
- In a gentle and exploratory way, we will firstly discuss with you the issues and concerns that you have and then help you look at prioritising these issues and concerns.
- We will then discuss with you the options with respect to counselling, and discuss with you a forward plan that works for you.

FIRE SANDERS
'I am a practitioner not unlike the clients that I work with. I have my own life stories of trauma, abuse, pain, anxiety, panic attacks and my world and health falling apart, which I have had to face, work through and move forward from. So, when I work with my clients, it is with a knowing that whilst I cannot walk in their shoes, I can come from a place of deep understanding … and that all I offer to my clients, I practice in my own life as well.'
- Fire Sanders
Fire Sanders is a mental health practitioner, counsellor, educator, and biomedical yoga therapist with a total passion for what she does and offers. Fire is also an Ayurvedic Practitioner.
Introduced to science-based counselling, resilience building and stress management at a young age - Fire has learnt over the years the benefits of incorporating these into her own life - and they have been fundamental in her recovery from a number of her own life challenges, including trauma, loss, chronic stress, and debilitating digestive issues - and finding balance, peace and self-acceptance within a fast-paced modern society.
Fundamental to all work that Fire undertakes with her clients is: Care, attention and focus; respect; professionalism, individualised care: and everything that she does and offers to her clients, Fire practices in her own life.
